Event Details
We are back again for the 2012 summer and we’re looking forward to another great summer of Surf n Turf racing (hopefully earthquake free). We have added a couple of endurance swims to be held at Pegasus Town in North Canterbury and we have also attempted to simplify some of our race options. This year we will be offering Ocean swim races for all levels of ability along with a long and short aquathon as well as a multisport aquathon. We are continuing on with the Stand up Paddle (SUP) events which is a sport that continues to grow in Canterbury. We will also continue to offer the 3km and 5km run options for those who prefer to keep their feet dry.

This year it will be compulsory for all swimmers to wear the allocated Surf n Turf Silicone Swim cap when swimming in the Wednesday evening races. All season entrants will receive this as part of their season entry, all other swimmers will be able to purchase one of these for $5 at the time of entry or on the day at registration.
This year season entrants will also receive a free 2xu Surf n Turf running cap worth $20 as a part of their entry.
*A 10% discount is available for season entrants with the entry of a promotion code. This has been offered to Past Competitors, Members of the Canterbury Triathlon Club, Members of Surf Lifesaving NZ, Members of the Arawa Canoe Club & members of the soon to be formed North Canterbury Multisport & Triathlon Club . If you fit into one of these categories then the relevant promotion code should have been provided to you by your organisation, if you haven’t receive one please contact the appropriate person at that organisation.
Venues
This year all of the Wednesday evening Surf n Turf series events will be held at our tried and tested venue of Corsair Bay in Lyttleton Harbor. The two endurance swim events will be held in the fresh water lake at Pegasus Town in North Canterbury.

Corsair Bay is located in Lyttleton harbor approximately 20 minutes drive south east of Christchurch City. There is plenty of car parking available at Corsair Bay and it is only a short walk down the hill to the beach. There are good toilet and changing facilities at Corsair Bay as well as a (cold) fresh water shower to wash down in after your swim, paddle or run. The water quality at Corsair Bay is moderate and is regularly checked by the Christchurch City Council. |

Pegasus Town will be our venue for our two endurance swim events. Pegasus town is a new mixed residential/commercial development located approximately 35-50 minutes drive (depending on traffic) North of Christchurch City. There are currently approximately 130 homes completed in the development and the man made lake at its center is the our venue for the two events that we will be holding in the Pegasus Township. |
Race Day Program – Wednesday Events

5.30 – 6.30pm
Briefing:
6:45pm at transition
Race Start:
7.00pm
Events will be started in 1 minute waves starting with all Paddle Events then followed by Ocean Swim and Aquathon Events. The Run event will start at the same time as the first wave.

How to enter
You can enter online through our secure registration online system by clicking here. The cheapest way to enter the events is to purchase a season pass for all 8 Wednesday evening events, this entry also includes a free runners cap and swim cap for those who are entering a swim event.
Entry for each week’s event will be closed at 7.30pm on the Tuesday evening prior to each race to allow us time to process entries and set up the timing files.
Race day entries will be accepted on the day at a cost of $25 if the event is not at capacity.

Competitor Number Restrictions
We will be restricting the series this year to a maximum of 300 people per week across all events. Some events may also have a restriction on them and this will be identified on the information page for those events.

Prizes
There will be a brief spot prize giving following each weeks race with a number of great spot prizes provided by our sponsors. This year we will also be acknowledging the winners of each event however we will not have performance prizes for the winners of each weeks events.
The prize giving at the conclusion of race 8 will be our major prize giving and at this event we will have a number of major spot prizes. to be eligible for the major spot prizes competitors must compete in at least 5 of the 8 events.

Postponement of Events
In the case of extreme weather conditions or other forces beyond the control of the event directors we reserve the right to make adjustments to the planned course. If any event is canceled due to forces beyond the control of the event directors every effort will be made to re-schedule that race however we can make no guarantees entries will be transferred to the replacement event but we will not be able to give entry fee refunds unless the event is canceled with at least 48hrs notice in which case an 80% refund will be given.
